American Kidney Services (AKS) offers a complimentary donation pickup service to residents in Atlanta and all nearby areas in Georgia. As a local charity, we want to make it easy for you to help our cause. Our mission is to provide support to organizations that fight kidney disease, and we welcome donations of clothing and other household goods to generate proceeds that go toward funding patient financial assistance programs and other community services for people affected by this life-threatening illness.

AMVETS is an organization that was formed to support for veterans as well as those active in the military. The nonprofit entity also provides services in the community that enhance the quality of life for all citizens in the nation.

Items donated to AMVETS go to thrift stores across the country to be resold at a reasonable price. The profit made on the goods helps fund the veteran programs. The items are used by those needing them. The thrift stores also are a source for jobs for those living in the community. When you donate goods to AMVETS, you will be given a tax deductible receipt for your donation.

If you have an item that you would like to donate but are unsure whether AMVETS will accept it as a donation, it is best to call them and ask if the item is eligible for donating.Items that are generally not accepted are mattresses, cans of paint, infant car seats, building materials, stoves, freezers and food.

No matter what way you decide to schedule the AMVETS donation pick up, you will be either emailed or called the night before to confirm it. AMVETS asks that items be left in front of your house by 8 a.m. the day of the scheduled pick up.

Only donate items that are in usable condition. This means that clothes are clean and free of tears, holes and stains. Appliances and other household items should be in working condition and not in any need of repair.

Donating your unwanted items is not only a great way to clean your closets but is also a great way to help others in your community. Consider donating your items to AMVETS. If you are unable to take the donation to a drop off location, many AMVETS offer pick up service. Call your local chapter to find out if this service is available in your area.

AMVETS regularly picks up gently used clothing, household items, and furniture. These items are then sold at our local area thrift stores. This not only benefits our Veterans by providing them with aid and assistance but puts people to work in our local communities. Please consider donating to your local area AMVETS.

Clothing donations to AMVETS are greatly appreciated. However, AMVETS receives items that cannot be used and they must be discarded. If we accepted those items, it would raise expenses and reduce the amount of revenue available for the different AMVETS programs.

When AMVETS receives items that cannot be used, when possible, they are recycled and sold for salvage. These items include broken, torn, and damaged items and products that have been recalled by the Consumer Products Safety Commission. Those items are disposed of for the safety of our customers. Once again, all expenses associated with the above reduce the revenue available for our programs.
